Francois Noel

Francois Olivier Noel is a 24 year old Artist who was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He lived there until he was 8 then moved to the Boston area and attended school. Since he lived in a strict Haitian American household, he wasn’t allowed much of a social life, but thankfully he had his own computer and access to the internet which he was allowed to use for education purposes. Throughout his middle and high school career, Francois taught himself how to do everything from draw, to play instruments and especially dance from watching videos online. He first taught himself the basics and sub genres of hip hop; Popping, locking, housing, and breaking. Then in high school, in order to become a better rounded dancer he joined the Cambridge Rindge and Latin Modern Dance Company. He was first introduced to Salsa through Metamovements in 2013 as a summer job through the city of Cambridge. He immediately fell in love and came back to it every consecutive summer until he was accepted into the company full time. Throughout the years his latin dance repertoire has grown to include Salsa, bachata, merengue, Casino (and Rueda), Son, Rumba and afro-Cuban from attending boot camps, going to congresses and festivals as well as trips to Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Now Francois teaches regularly with MetaMovements, Moves and Vibes on top of being a professor at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
